Ferlo’s Alimentari.

A new concept in a traditional Delicatessen.

Today’s world is fast paced, high stress, and worry about tomorrow. What about today? What about all the yesterdays that made us who we are? In a time when it’s easy to forget where one has come from, our goal is to incorporate some of the old world into the new. Each time you visit our store, we hope that you will give us a few minutes and let us share with you a piece of our family’s heritage.

Our lineage can be traced to a coastal village in Italy, yet the stories we remember began in the small town of Rome, NY. Yes, it was a town filled with Italian-Americans and we were among the many. Children of Virginia Bravo and Frank Ferlo Sr., we grew up in an environment that was rich in ethnic traditions, many of which revolved around food. It’s really true that Italians LOVE to eat! And we eat at every gathering - so the ability to prepare a meal is just a natural progression of things (for most). Our “schooling” was the countless hours spent in kitchens watching our mother and our aunts, learning the way they did, watching their mothers and aunts.

Gathering with family and friends around food is at the core of our existence. Holidays, Sundays, everyday. Dinnertime with the whole family was an essential part of our daily routine. We were spoiled with the quality and quantity of diverse foods mom and Aunt Jeanie prepared for us. “Whatever your heart desires” was always mom’s answer to “what’s for dinner?” There were always an endless array of choices! When anyone entered the house, they were offered something to eat or drink (and mom and dad would be offended if they didn’t accept!) Dad always said... “Sit down, relax, have something to eat...what’s the hurry?” So many fond memories...

As time passes, our elders who gave us our traditions and memories are slowly leaving us. We are now charged with giving our children these same gifts. Because they are so dear to us, we want to share our traditions with you. Most of the meals we offer to you are from family recipes. Some are our own creations and some are an Alimentari twist on a familiar dish. Food is part of our culture and preparing for you whatever your heart desires is something we genuinely love to do. We wouldn’t be here if we didn’t.

Our philosophy is simply this: When you come through or door, we’ll treat you like family. We hope you’ll experience an abundance of laughs, love, and good conversation as we get to know each other. We invite you to “share our table” and let us spoil you like mom spoiled us... because “That’s what we do here” at Ferlo’s Alimentari.
